work-life balance.
Objective: Address the issues
faced by women while they navigating around “Work-Life Balance” that motivates
women around the world and makes them feel empowered.
Scope: Highlight the demanding
nature of work-life balance for women, “Celebrate” the strength and resilience
of women and Call for change
Let's face it, the term
"work-life balance" for women can sometimes feel like a cruel joke.
We're the CEOs of our households, the emotional support animals, the chief
cooks and bottle washers – all while navigating “demanding careers”. A recent
study found that only 5.3% of board seats in the GCC are held by women (AlGhoul & Esmail,2024). This begs the question: with
so much on our plates, how do we even reach for the stars, let alone climb the
corporate ladder?
Look around you. Think of your
mothers, sisters, aunts, and friends. Chances are, you know a woman who wears a
thousand hats and makes it look “effortless” (or at least, with a smile and a
perfectly timed eye roll). My own family is a case in point. My aunt, a working
mother since I can remember, somehow manages to excel at her job, raise a
child, and still organize the most epic family outings. My mom, on the other
hand, found fulfillment in creating a nurturing home for me and my brother.
Both women sacrifice sleep, both “navigate challenges”, and both, in their own
way, are phenomenal. There's no gold medal for "Best Work-Life
Balance," because the truth is, it's a unique journey for each of us.
